We have equipment for one more school which has not yet been determined. Most rural areas do not have electricity so we have to purchase a generator, TV, DVD player and cables for lighting. Once we have the equipment the school can run every year or be transferred to another area if needed.
Also In Kenya we have helped to set up a program to help support 150 children which are part of the main church in Kisumu through one of our supporting churches. This was Pastor Mary’s vision which she had started to implement and we were able to share her vision and now it has become a very effective blessing to the children and their families
This same church was also able to help Bishop Zephaniah with his vision to grow crops to help feed the children and families in his church. A well has been drilled, crops have been planted and in a few weeks the corn, beans and ground nuts will be ready for harvest.
With the fighting going on in all areas of Mexico, especially in Juarez where we work with several pastors, it is no longer safe to bring in groups. We have been able to get in much needed food and school supplies etc. through the Mexican pastors that can meet us in El Paso. Our annual Christmas in Juarez project provides over 400 Christmas packets to needy children in several communities.
We have one school that has just started in Juarez, with another pastor requesting that he also wants to use the curriculum. We are also waiting for a mission in Mexico City to complete a course through the Biblical Counseling Foundation which we introduced them to. At the completion of this course they will be ready to start the ISOM school. We have graduated 3 schools in the southern Baja California, but with everything going on they have not been able to restart.
Two weeks ago a group from Chickasha, OK, led by a DeNike Ministry board member returned from a trip to Kenya. On that trip they were able to hold four graduations, take a trip to see the farm , feed approximately 400 children in Kisumu and spend several days in Maasai Land sharing the Word. On the day that they were leaving, our second group arrived for a two week stay in Maasai Land . They will be purchasing cattle to replace some that were lost in the recent drought and
visiting several schools and churches. They will also be bringing food and school supplies. They should be returning tomorrow the 21st (of June).
Bernice will be leading our next group to Kenya in July with a three week schedule. Eight graduations are planned plus visits to each of the schools to encourage the students. A meeting with all of the school directors is also planned plus several days in Maasai Land sharing God’s Word.
The growth of these schools has gone beyond anything that we had imagined. So we have learned very quickly to expand our vision beyond anything we can do and He will take over and do the impossible for us.
I hope this answers your questions about the ministry. If there is anything we can answer please don’t hesitate to ask.
